Luxemburg, Germany & France - Lorraine by bike and boat **

29/06/2013

After our fabulous Po River tour we moved across to Luxemburg to join the Lorraine tour from Wasserbillig through to Toul in northern France.  This turned out to be the worst tour we have ever joined.  We travelled by train from Paris to Wasserbillig with paperwork indicating that we needed to be on the boat by 3pm. We arrived around 2pm and were criticised for being late. This was the start of a tour with a guide whom we found to be obnoxious over the whole week. This was exacerbated by joining 18 other guests of whom only a handful spoke English and a barge set up to serve buffet meals which quickly disappeared each dinner time as the other guests took large shares.  The guide seemed to delight in providing mis-information about where we would be riding and often seemed to be unsure about directions and facilities and would be asking locals, including children, for advice.  The route was generally picturesque and exposed us to wonderful new experiences, but we were glad to exit the tour in Toul after several stressful days.

I could not find this tour which seems to have been discontinued.

The majority of the tour group waited with our guide while the stronger riders climbed up to see the remnants of the Maginot Line
